A flea marketing aficionado shares her secrets of a Hudson, Quebec, institution

To market, to market… to buy anything your heart desires. My perpetual Finnegan's list includes something for my garden and a fabulous piece of clothing. I am never disappointed. Just remember: Time stops at Finnegan's because it's all about meeting and greeting; and looking under the tables may just snag you a real treasure.

A hop, skip and jump from Montreal lies this picturesque town with charm to spare.

Market: Finnegan's, every Saturday from May to October (450) 458-4377

Mealtime: Carambola Café (450-458-0098) serves fabulous Spanish and Mediterranean food.

Restaurant Le Maxime (450-458-1371) is a bistro on Hudson's main drag.

Bedtime: Willow Place Inn (208 Main Rd., 450-458-7006, willowplaceinn.com) boasts a restaurant and rooms with a waterside locale just 10 kilometres east of Finnegan's.

Auberge des Gallants Country Inn (800-461-4241, gallant.qc.ca), about 20 kilometres southwest of Hudson, features luxurious suites and beautiful gardens surrounded by 400 acres of forest.
