Garden Tool Apron - Materials:
Two pieces of striped cotton canvas fabric 66 x 27 cm for the apron
Two binding strips of cotton canvas 114 x 7.5 cm
One strip of fabric 66 x 7.5 cm for the tool strap
15 mm diameter eyelets
Sewing machine
Matching thread
Tape measure
Pins

1. Cut out the fabric following the measurements given in the list above. Place the two apron pieces right sides together and stitch down the two short sides and along one long side, taking a 1.5 cm seam. Trim diagonally across the seam turnings at each corner to reduce the bulk. Turn right side out and press flat.

2. Joint he binding strips together at one short end to form one long strip. Press seam turnings open. Press the long edges of the binding 1.5 cm to the wrong side, then press the strip in half lengthways with the raw edges inside.

3. Pin the binding over the top raw edges of the apron, placing the seam at the centre and pin in place. Machine stitch the pressed edges of the binding together, sandwiching the apron in-between as you sew.

4. Fold the strap strip in half lengthways with right sides together. Stitch across one short end and down one long side. Trim diagonally across the seam turnings at each corner to reduce the bulk. Turn right side out and press flat.

5. Place the strap on the front of the apron 9 cm down and parallel to the top edge. Pin in place with the short neatened end level with one side edge and the raw end folded under, level with the opposite side edge. Machine-stitch in place down both ends.

6. Place your gardening tools under the strap and pin each side where you will need to stitch to hold them in place. Remove tools and vertically stitch down through the strap and apron at the positions marked.

7. Finally, insert an eyelet into the top corners of the apron following the manufacturer's instructions. Use the eyelets to hang your tool apron up when not in use.
