MATERIALS YOU'LL NEED:
• Printouts or photocopies of vintage Halloween postcards, about 3" x 2"
• Pinking shears
• Black bristol board
• Orange and black crepe paper
• Glue stick
• Orange ribbon
1. Cut out the images with the pinking shears, leaving a white border.
2. Cut out 4" x 3" rectangles of black bristol board.
3. Make the ruffled crepe paper. Cut a 3 1/2-feet-long strip of black crepe paper. Then cut a 3 1/2-feet-long strip of orange crepe paper, and trim so it's slightly narrower than the black. Place the orange over the black and match up the edges. Sew the two pieces together with a loose gathering stitch by hand or on a sewing machine. Gather the frill to about 12".
4. Rub the glue stick over the piece of black bristol board. Arrange the ruffle around the edges and ease in at the corners. Join up the ruffle with more glue. Cut two 12" pieces of orange ribbon. Place them 1" in from the edge of the bristol board, over the ruffle, and glue to the bottom edge of the ruffle.
5. Apply glue to the back of the postcard and position it in the centre of the ruffle, over the ribbon. Let dry thoroughly, then tie the two ribbons together in a bow to hang it on some branches in a large jug or bucket. Use florist foam to secure the branches and cover it with sphagnum moss. Drape more of the moss over the branches to complete the look.
