Easy, DIY ideas for combining old and new ideas on your special day

wedding-4.jpgGift giving
Use ribbon and paper in shades that match the wedding colours. These gifts are wrapped so beautifully that the attendants won’t want to open them. An extra touch is a hand-made flower decoration fashioned out of petals cut from extra wedding dress fabric. They were simply gathered and tied at the bottom to form a keepsake blossom for the gift.

Make your ring pillow as special as the rings that are carried on it. Here, presentation is everything. We’ve taken a small, inexpensive silk pillow and covered it in a length of delicate lace to add texture and depth. Coordinating ribbons in two different widths were then wrapped around the pillow as a base for nestling his-and-hers wedding bands. The two rings are cleverly attached with a single thin satin ribbon, and polished off with a solitary glowing pearl button in the centre.

Ribbon, Mokuba * fabric, Beacon Hill Blinking Star in Antique White, Beacon Hill Thai in Truffle, both Robert Allen.
