Jazz up an earthtone palette with fresh, season-appropriate colours. Sinopoli says, “Reflecting the fondness for retro looks, baby blue, lemon yellow and mint green will be popular.” He says to also watch for bolder colours like tangerine, cobalt and glossy red.

Spring-exuberant textiles are splashing out in groovy patterns (think Missoni Home) and bird-and-spring-branch imagery. Silhouettes invoking retro kitchen items are proving just as striking as fashionable cameos and typography. Another trend Sinopoli notes is “contemporary art for the kitchen.” Appliances and tools in punchy colours, contemporary designs and new-fangled materials abound. But, Sinopoli notes, “function will trump mere decoration when it comes to kitchen buys this year.”
