THE ARTISANS
For those of us who yearn for Euro style but wouldn't give up what Canada has to offer, Toronto's Hardware delivers the perfect compromise. For the past three years, storeowners Murray Duncan and Jordan Tabachnik have been marrying native salvaged materials like tin, wood trim and plaster crown mouldings with century-old European designs to create elegant trumeau mirrors. Mirrors start at $400. Hardware, (416) 462-2766.
THE DOYENNE
If you've been looking for Euro Country style in Toronto, you've undoubtedly come across Putti, Linda Wade's charming store that's bursting at the seams with amazing finds. Wade opened Putti 10 years ago, when her home became overcrowded with European antiques. Wade's inimitable style and lovely personality pervade the shop. Wade is shown here with a collection of chandeliers, starting from $500. Putti, (416) 972-7652.
THE IMPORTER
Joon-Hae Park has what many of us would consider a dream job – she works from home, travels to Europe and imports fantastic Swedish finds. Inspired by Nordic Style, the mecca for Scandinavian style in London, England, Park started her own company, White Space Interiors. She imports and refurbishes antique armoires from France and has the exclusive on a line of Gustavian-inspired furniture made in Sweden. “Swedish design tries to maximize light during long winter months and evoke feelings of spaciousness. I think Canadians can really appreciate that.” Antique armoires start at $5,000. Joonhae Park was photographed at The Cross in Vancouver with some of her wares. www.whitespace-interiors.com.
