With snow beginning to fall and the holiday season around the corner, it's easy to curl up on the sofa and dream the winter away. But editor Erin McLaughlin and design editor Ann Marie Favot discovered a far better way to celebrate the start of the colder months - head to the quaint Ontario town of Creemore and immerse yourself completely in all of its charms.
Located just one-and-a-half hours from Toronto, Creemore recently celebrated its 163rd birthday, and has welcomed a resurgence of residents to the town over the past decade.“Picture a beautiful, historic small Ontario town in your mind,” says McLaughlin. “Creemore is actually it. It strikes a wonderful balance between charm and sophistication.”
A main street lined with decor shops, restaurants and a real estate agency (“Where you can stop and see if your dream home is in the window,” says McLaughlin), provides endless hours of browsing pleasure, while all around is the natural splendour of the pastoral valleys and rolling hills of southern Ontario. A four-season haven, Creemore is close to the ski slopes of Collingwood and hiking paths on the Bruce Trail. Sports enthusiasts can spend many a happy day in summer on the multitude of golf courses in the region, or boating on the nearby waters of Georgian Bay.
