There's a certain style that defines decor this spring. It's unabashedly pretty, bright and infused with a European spirit. We hope you're as smitten as we are.
You will need:
- eggs
- pin
- syringe
- measuring tape
- decorative paper
- scissors
- glue
How to prepare the eggs for decorating
With a pin, gently poke a hole at the top and bottom of the egg. Make sure you pierce the yolk with the pin.
When both holes are completed, take the syringe and pull the plunger so that it is extended as far as it will go; insert the tip into one of the two holes (it doesn't matter which one). Depress the plunger slowly, pushing the egg whites and yolk out. Repeat until the eggshell is empty.
Decorate!
{one} With the measuring tape, measure the egg from top to bottom, then around the centre of the egg. This will give you the height of the egg, as well as the circumference of the egg. Add 1/4" to your measurements.
{two} Choose the decorative paper you want to use, and cut the paper to the dimensions above. Next, fold the paper in half, giving you a piece of paper that is the width of the egg, but half the height.
{three} Perpendicular to the fold, cut the paper into 1/4" strips, leaving a 1/4" gap along the fold. When you unfold the paper, you should have 1/2" of solid paper between the strips.
{four} Unfold the paper, and apply glue to the back of the 1/2" centre fold; wrap the paper around the centre of the egg, gently smoothing the glue down.
{five} Cut strips into points, and trim to length as needed; apply glue to the egg, and press down the first strip. Continue this step until all pointed strips are glued down.
