First light
Adorn a plain lampshade (shown above) with fall accents.
You'll need:
Scissors
Laminated burlap
Pencil
Thread
Fabric glue
1. Cut several leaf shapes out of laminated burlap (you can trace an existing leaf from nature).
2. Lightly sketch veins of leaf onto shapes with a pencil, then stitch by hand, following the lines.
3. Glue leaves onto lampshade; let dry completely.
Flying colours
Partially painted botanicals (shown above) make easy artwork.
You'll need:
Photocopied line drawings of botanicals (in black and white)
Watercolour paints and brushes
1. Set photocopies on a flat work surface. Playing with different shades of watercolours, softly paint individual leaves on each sheet, leaving some blank.
2. Add brown veins and stems with a very fine brush, and leave sheets to dry completely.
3. Hang unframed on your wall for a contemporary, eclectic look.
