A great collectors item for any country kitchen

Cocoa is one of our favourite pantry must-haves. Its history is immortalized in fun vintage tins like these that evoke a warm sense of nostalgia every time you reach for them.

Prices range from a few dollars to a few hundred, so budget accordingly - sometimes the best finds are discovered tucked away in your grandma's pantry!

Cocoa Tins 101:

It was almost 200 years ago (in 1828) that Dutch chocolate maker Conrad van Houten produced the first instant cocoa powder available in tins.

Look for enamelware cocoa tins from sets of kitchen canisters-particularly rare.

European cocoa tins often depict sweet domestic scenes, raising their collectible appeal.

Watch for pretty decorative tins at specialty chocolate stores in your area to start a modern collection.

Most of today's collectible tins are for decoration only. The insides are rarely in good enough condition to use with food.
