Start a pretty, practical collection by gathering time-worn bottles at antiques markets and estate sales. Unusual shapes and colours, as well as the presence of the original lid, can increase the cost, but—pricey or not—we love them all. Versatile enough to be pressed into service in any room, place them where the sun shines to create undulating, shimmery shadows through their old rippled glass.
Fill your favourite bottles with bubble bath, then tie labels around their necks to create an inviting bath-time display for guests (above). Or, use a collection of different sized bottles as holders for artists' brushes on a windowsill (left).
