Chocolate, anyone?by Suzanne Moutis |
Today I’m thinking about yummy desserts for Valentine’s Day. Chocolate, of course. Maybe some chocolate cupcakes with a sprinkle of icing sugar on top in the shape of a heart? Or an initial? Maybe a plum or cranberry crumble, something red anyway, with caramel or chocolate sauce on top? Strawberries with fresh cream? Can’t wait!
So dinner’s almost planned. I have my heart-shaped pasta, and I’m going to serve these delicious red peppers that my Greek mother-in-law used to make. They’re not roasted, but they’re cooked in tomato sauce so they’re still firm, but the sauce thickens and they taste like heaven. A simple green salad and I’m done. Even my kid will love it.
Tonight my son and I are writing out the Valentine’s for his class (he has Star Wars ones). Karina, our assistant editor, also sent this link to me today: www.purlbee.com/valentine-heart-pins/ These little hearts might just be the cutest things I’ve ever seen.
Don’t forget the world around you, though. Say an extra-special thank you to your bus driver, your receptionist, your mail carrier or your school crossing guard. And take the time to send your niece, godchild and babysitter your best wishes, too!
