Restoration before and after

Image above: BEFORE
We've lived in our Italianate brick house for about 16 years, and have slowly tried to restore it. Over the past 10 years, our 125-year-old home has seen us landscape and build a deck, replace the wooden windowsills with stone, paint and restore the front porch. Inside, we've painted, raised the second floor ceilings to their original height, remodelled the kitchen, reopened the back hallway's stairs, installed a small first-floor bathroom under the stairs, put in a second-floor laundry room and more.

Now we're painting again, having already redone our little bathroom, our bedroom and our daughter's bedroom. (My son tells me his room is fine—and he doesn't like change!) Throughout the process, we frequently used ideas from your magazine and are very proud of the results. We hope you like it, too.
